Throwline Thursdays: Scottie Pippen

Did you guess it right?

This week on Throwline Thursday’s we look back at one of the most talented small forwards to have ever graced the NBA courts. The man, the myth, and the b-ball legend - Scottie Pippen. The NBA star was famously known for his flawless defensive skills on the hardwoods as well as being regarded as Michael Jordan’s right-hand man.

As with any All-Star player performing during the golden era of basketball (the '80s and ‘90s), Pippen had shown meticulous skill on the court, and his astonishing one-hand dunk over Patrick Ewing is certainly one for the NBA history books.

The image below takes us back to a memorable moment on May 20th, during game 6 of the 1994 Eastern Conference semi-finals where the Chicago Bulls battled it out against the New York Knicks. During the game, Pippen finds himself in a wide-open lane, dribbling the ball with precision.

He makes a quick pass to Pete Myers, who promptly returns the ball to Pippen. With sheer explosiveness, Pippen soars over Patrick Ewing, delivering a one-handed dunk that left the crowd in awe.

Chicago Bulls gained victory over the New York Knicks in game 6 with a 95-83 point reign, but unfortunately missed out on their place in the finals, with the Knicks winning game 7 and securing a 4-3 point game lead. But what would be remembered by many is Pippen’s legendary dunk moment.
