The Air Jordan 17 'College Blue' is reportedly set to return in 2027, marking the first-ever retro release of the original colourway.
Originally released during Michael Jordan’s Washington Wizards era, the 'College Blue' AJ17 has a place in Jordan history. Jordan himself wore the silhouette on court during the 2001-02 NBA season, making its comeback nostalgic for Jumpman fans.
According to reports from @zsneakerheadz and Sneaker Files, the Air Jordan 17 'College Blue' is expected to launch on February 19, 2027, landing during NBA All-Star Weekend. The timing feels fitting for a sneaker linked so closely to Jordan’s playing legacy.
Design Details:
Designed by Wilson Smith III, the Air Jordan 17 was built around Michael Jordan’s love of jazz. Music-inspired touches run throughout the design, from notes incorporated into the lace eyelets to the flowing lines across the upper. Even the original packaging leaned into the theme, arriving in a metallic briefcase inspired by instrument cases.
Underfoot, the AJ17 was no slouch. Zoom Air cushioning, a full-length shank plate and a TPU heel counter gave the sneaker plenty of performance credentials, while its removable shroud added another layer to its look.
The return is also another big moment for the Air Jordan 17’s resurgence. Following limited releases such as 'University Blue', 'Lightning' and the Infinite Archives collaboration, the silhouette has gradually earned a wave of attention.
Release Info:
If the reports prove accurate, the 'College Blue' will arrive in OG-inspired form and could even bring back the metallic briefcase and CD. With a reported $350 price tag, this comeback won’t be cheap, but for AJ17 heads, 2027 could be the year the 'College Blue' finally gets its encore.
