Nike Teams Up with Olaolu Slawn for a Bold Air Max 90 Collaboration

Nike is keeping the energy high for the Air Max 90 with a groundbreaking collaboration featuring British-Nigerian artist Olaolu Slawn.

Known for his vibrant, graffiti-infused art and signature smiling motifs, Slawn now delivers his creative flair to the legendary AM90 silhouette.

A Masterpiece on Foot

Slawn’s take on the Air Max 90 is a bold reinterpretation of Tinker Hatfield’s classic design. The ‘Black Speckle’ edition delivers a stealthy, all-black leather upper splattered with white paint, giving it a raw, expressive look reminiscent of an artist’s studio. Meanwhile, intricate stone-like carvings on the side panels, collar, and Swoosh add texture and depth, creating a premium, handcrafted feel.

The sneaker’s wraparound leather mudguard replaces the traditional medial panel, enhancing the sleek and modern aesthetic. Adding to the elevated detailing, metallic silver eyelets and a semi-translucent rubber piece on the foxing offer an eye-catching contrast against the dark base.

Signature Slawn Touches

True to his art, Slawn’s signature caricature-like face motif is subtly embossed on the heel tab, a nod to his distinct visual language. A debossed Nike tongue label keeps the branding clean and minimal, allowing the artistic elements to take centre stage. And of course, the iconic visible Air unit remains intact, ensuring the legendary comfort the AM90 is known for.
